Soccer Game Preview: Mesquite vs. St. Mary's

The Mesquite Wildcats will square off against the St. Mary's Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mesquite has three straight wins, St. Mary's has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Mesquite's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past ALA - Queen Creek 3-0. Give the Wildcats' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for St. Mary's offense. They came up short against Paradise Honors on Friday, falling 4-0.

Mesquite's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three matchups. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7-1.

Everything went Mesquite's way against St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Mesquite made off with a 4-0 win. Will Mesquite repeat their success, or does St. Mary's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
