Softball Recap: Red Bud Has No Trouble Against Mascoutah

Red Bud barely beat Mascoutah the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Musketeers blew past the Indians 17-3 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Musketeers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Kendra Ehret tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lilly Minemann was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Alicia Burmester also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Red Bud always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mascoutah only posted an OBP of .281.

The win made it two in a row for Red Bud and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Mascoutah, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-6.

Looking ahead, Red Bud will challenge Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Musketeers are facing the Maroons at the right time seeing as the Maroons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mascoutah, they will square off against Triad at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
