Baseball Recap: Ider Comes Up Short

Ider extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 17-9. They came up short against the Pisgah Eagles, falling 13-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in February.

Ider saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blaze Ott, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base. That hit marked the first that Ott has got this season. Taylor Kidwell was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Pisgah, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.

On Pisgah's side, they got a great performance from Mason Cooley as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Cooley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caleb Jenkins was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Oakley Cofield, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

Looking ahead, Ider will be playing at home against Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pisgah, they will venture away from home to square off against Cedar Bluff at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
