Basketball Recap: Rainier Sets Scoring Season-High Against Castle Rock

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rainier). They secured a 60-55 W over the Castle Rock Rockets on Monday. Given the Columbians' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 117th in Oregon, while the Rockets are ranked 242nd in Washington), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win (which was Rainier's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Castle Rock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Rainier and Horizon Christian will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Castle Rock, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Seton Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
