Softball Game Preview: Holmes Huskies vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

The Holmes Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holmes has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Holmes came up short against Warren on Friday, falling 11-1. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sotomayor never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Marshall on Friday. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The WILDCATS haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Avery Martinez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Sandera, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sotomayor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshall only posted an OBP of .368.

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Sotomayor, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-1.

Holmes might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Sotomayor in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
