Soccer Game Preview: Fort Mill vs. Nation Ford

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets will challenge the Nation Ford Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Fort Mill sitting on four straight wins and Nation Ford on eight.

Fort Mill's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Indian Land by a score of 2-0. Fort Mill's winning goal came courtesy of Baxley Hunsucker.

Fort Mill used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Indian Land. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Jasalyn Cash (80), Hunsucker (53), and Julia Allwes (80). The trio had averaged 37.9, 28.6, and 50.3 minutes respectively before Friday's contest. Hunsucker made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Nation Ford faced Clover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Nation Ford came out on top in a nail-biter against Clover, sneaking past 1-0. Give Nation Ford's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

Nation Ford's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five matchups. As for Fort Mill, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Fort Mill beat Nation Ford by a goal in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 4-3. Will Fort Mill repeat their success, or does Nation Ford has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
