Basketball Game Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Burke Catholic

The Eldred Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to face off against Burke Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burke Catholic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Eldred, who comes in off a win.

Eldred will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Monticello, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Eldred enjoyed a cozy 49-30 win over Monticello on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eldred to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Furler, who went 8 of 14 en route to 20 points along with seven boards and seven steals. Furler has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Olivia Gonzalez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Burke Catholic lost 53-28 to Minisink Valley two weeks ago.

Burke Catholic now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Eldred, their record is now 3-6.

Eldred came up short against Burke Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 37-25. Can Eldred avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
