Basketball Recap: Whiting Comes Up Short

Whiting was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 62-36 to the Wheeler Bearcats. The Oilers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.

Leading Wheeler to victory were Nick Scott and Logan Fox. Scott went 6 for 14 en route to 18 points and four steals, while Fox posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Fox a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Mclaughlin, who put up nine points.

Whiting's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Wheeler, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Whiting will welcome River Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whiting is facing River Forest at the right time seeing as River Forest is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Wheeler has already played their next contest, a 41-38 win against DeMotte Christian on the 18th.
