Basketball Game Preview: Polk County Wildcats vs. Greenback Cherokees

The Polk County Wildcats will head out to square off against the Greenback Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Polk County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Greenback likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Polk County didn't have quite enough to beat Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences and fell 65-63. The Wildcats have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Polk County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Colby Lawson, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Webb, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points.

Meanwhile, Greenback came up short against Berean Christian on Monday and fell 60-47.

Greenback's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Polk County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Polk County got the 'W' when the teams last played back in December of 2025 against Greenback by a conclusive 65-41 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cherokees have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
