Caldwell hasn't had much luck against Millburn recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Chiefs will take on the Millers at 4:00 p.m. Caldwell will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Caldwell lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Montville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Chiefs blew past the Mustangs 8-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Chiefs have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Millburn made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oratory Prep on Saturday. The Millers were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Rams.
Eli Balady made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Millburn gave Charlie Wall the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wall has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Charlie Krasnove and Eli Suna did most of the damage at the plate: Krasnove got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Suna earned two RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases. Those two RBI gave Suna a new career-high. Sawyer Stein also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Millburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Caldwell's record is now 17-2. As for Millburn, their record now sits at 6-11.
Caldwell couldn't quite get it done against Millburn in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-0. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
