Soccer Game Preview: Newton-Conover vs. Maiden

The Newton-Conover Red Devils will challenge the Maiden Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Newton-Conover is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Foard on Tuesday. The Red Devils fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. Newton-Conover have struggled against Foard recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Maiden's offense. They lost 9-0 to East Lincoln on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Maiden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 324th, while East Lincoln are ranked 34th).

Newton-Conover's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Maiden, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Newton-Conover skirted past Maiden 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
