Sophomore post led Grandview to the Class 6A state title.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Sienna Betts of
Grandview (Aurora) is the 2022-23 MaxPreps Colorado High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4 sophomore post led the Wolves to a 19-9 mark and the Class 6A state championship.
For the season, Betts averaged a team-high 21.4 points, 16.5 rebounds, 3.8 blocks and 3.3 assists per game. In the championship game, a 38-28 win over Monarch (Louisville), she scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 22 rebounds.
Betts is regarded as one of the top prospects in the country in the Class of 2025.
Lauren Betts, Sienna's older sister, was the 2021-22 MaxPreps Colorado Player of the Year. Now a freshman at Stanford, she averaged 17.2 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots per game a year ago for Grandview.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released in April.
