Basketball Recap: Whitman Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Whitman has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Screamin' Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Whitman's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Shapiro, who posted six points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Those seven assists gave Shapiro a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Wills, who scored nine points and eight boards.

It was another big night for Jaysen Moise, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds for Seneca Valley. Another player making a difference was Isaac Olanrewaju, who put up eight points and five assists.

Whitman's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-4. As for Seneca Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Whitman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-45 victory against Clarksburg on the 4th. Seneca Valley has also already played their next contest, a 44-41 defeat against Northwest on the 4th.
