Softball Preview: South East Jaguars vs. South Gate Rams

South East is 2-8 against South Gate since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South East Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the South Gate Rams at 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for South East's offense. Their rough 10-0 defeat to South Gate on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. While getting shut out isn't ideal, South East has not been shut out since back in February.

For South Gate's part, Veronica Esparza was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Esparza has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive pitching appearances. Esparza was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Laila Davila was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Leah Jimenez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

South East's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for South Gate, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
