Softball Recap: Greencastle-Antrim Find Success

Greencastle-Antrim is still undefeated this season after their contest against Shippensburg on Monday, but Shippensburg came as close as anyone has to beating them. Greencastle-Antrim narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Shippensburg 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since May 9, 2024.

Kiersten Swain made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Swain was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meadow Gambacurta, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Erika HoovEr, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Greencastle-Antrim kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Greencastle-Antrim's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Shippensburg, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Greencastle-Antrim 3.5, James Buchanan 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
