Softball Recap: Benjamin Franklin Starts Season with Loss at Home

Benjamin Franklin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Plaquemine Green Devils on Thursday, falling 18-2. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Green Devils from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Saharah Howard was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Sidney Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Plaquemine and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Benjamin Franklin will host Pearl River at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Plaquemine, they will venture away from home to take on Woodlawn-B.R. at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
