Softball Recap: River Forest Takes a Loss

River Forest had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-6 to make it five. They lost 17-0 to the Illiana Christian Vikings. The Ingots were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Illiana Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 13 runs or more this season.

For Illiana Christian's part, Emmy Jansma and Olivia Daliege made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jansma tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Daliege pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Jansma went 1-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Daliege went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That stolen base was Jansma's first of the season.

In other batting news, Illiana Christian got a massive performance out of Mya VanderWoude, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave VanderWoude a new career-high. Lydia VanderWoude was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

River Forest has already played their next contest (against Marquette Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Illiana Christian, they have also already played their next match, a 6-1 defeat against Beecher on the 23rd.
