Softball Recap: Faith Christian Comes Up Short

Faith Christian had lost 11 straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-17 to make it 12. They lost 12-0 to the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargin' Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for North Montgomery, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-13. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by ten runs or more this season.

For North Montgomery's part, Kendra McClamroch was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. McClamroch was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, North Montgomery let Hope Delp and Sophie Welshimer run wild. Delp went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Welshimer went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Welshimer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Newkirk, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Christian will host Twin Lakes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Montgomery, they will welcome North Putnam at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Chargin' Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
