Football Game Preview: Hampshire Whip-Purs vs. Crystal Lake South Gators

Hampshire hasn't had much luck against Crystal Lake South recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Whip-Purs will take on the Gators at 7:00 p.m. Hampshire has given up an average of 37.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hampshire is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Central on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Whip-Purs took a blow against the Rockets, falling 45-14. While losing is never fun, the Whip-Purs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Rockets are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, Crystal Lake South fell victim to Dundee-Crown and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Chargers 28-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Gators' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hampshire's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Crystal Lake South, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.

Hampshire couldn't quite get it done against Crystal Lake South when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 9-0. Can the Whip-Purs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
