Basketball Game Preview: Southern Guilford Storm vs. Northeast Guilford Rams

Southern Guilford and Northeast Guilford are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Southern Guilford Storm will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Northeast Guilford Rams at 6:30 p.m. Southern Guilford is looking for their season's first win.

Southern Guilford came up short against Ragsdale on Wednesday, falling 65-44. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Tigers are ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, Northeast Guilford lost 60-39 to Eastern Guilford on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southern Guilford will have to keep a close watch on Jt Tatum and Anaya Pearley, a pair of players who had a big impact on Northeast Guilford's prior game. Tatum dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Pearley dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Tatum is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sasha Brower, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Southern Guilford's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Northeast Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Southern Guilford was able to grind out a solid victory over Northeast Guilford in their previous meeting back in January, winning 43-32. Will Southern Guilford repeat their success, or does Northeast Guilford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
