Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Lake Washington Kangaroos
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mercer Island Islanders can now relate to. They fell 69-56 to the Kangaroos on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Mercer Island had strong showings from Caitlin Monahan, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Anna Grace marsh, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. Monahan has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Anna Mock was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Mercer Island's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Lake Washington, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Mercer Island didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-47 loss vs. Eastside Catholic on the 10th. Lake Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
