Recap: Steinert Spartans vs. Brick Township Green Dragons
After flying high against the Lawrence Cardinals last Saturday, The Steinert Spartans came back down to earth. Steinert suffered a rough 31-7 defeat at the hands of Brick Township on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Steinert couldn't push the score so high this time.
Brick Township was led to victory by Jayden Johnson and Travis Trempy. Johnson gained 114 total yards and a touchdown, while Trempy rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards.
Brick Township's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Trempy and his two sacks.
Steinert now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Brick Township, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steinert will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Red Bank Regional at 6:30 p.m. on November 8th. Red Bank Regional is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Brick Township, they will head out on the road to face off against Clearview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clearview will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
