Recap: Lake Minneola Hawks vs. East Ridge Knights
The Lake Minneola Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past East Ridge 81-50 on the road. That looming 81-50 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lake Minneola yet this season.
Leading Lake Minneola to victory were Ethan Isom and Landon Blackwell. Isom scored 16 points along with four steals, while Blackwell scored 20 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alvin Colbert, who scored seven points along with three steals.
East Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Corman, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Vazquez, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their eighth loss (out of eight games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Lake Minneola is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for East Ridge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Lake Minneola will head out on the road to square off against Eustis at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eustis will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for East Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leesburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Ridge in Florida (Leesburg is ranked 53rd, while East Ridge is ranked 658th).
