Football Recap: Victor Baker Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Indianola Academy

St. Joseph not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 1, 2024 (when they won 42-0). They blew past the Indianola Academy Colonels 35-13. The Fighting Irish's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Joseph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Victor Baker, who threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 79 yards on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Baker a new career-high in passer rating (171.1). St. Joseph's leading receiver Corey Holmes was Baker's top target yet again, picking up 164 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

St. Joseph's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Indianola Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will face off against Marshall Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Indianola Academy, they will take on Carroll Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colonels will be up against the Rebels' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
