Volleyball Recap: New Palestine's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If New Palestine was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Greenwood Christian Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dragons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles on Thursday. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Guerin Catholic scored at least 21 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21.

Natalie Sevier paced New Palestine's offense, picking up 30 kills. Sevier got some help from Samantha Gooding and her 50 assists. Hayden Ramsey and Kennedy Armstrong kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.

Guerin Catholic was led to victory by Juliette Fuher and Natalie Laughon. Fuher had eight digs and four aces, while Laughon had seven digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, New Palestine fell to 2-1. As for Guerin Catholic, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Palestine will take on Hamilton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Guerin Catholic, they will challenge Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
