Basketball Recap: California's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Southern Boone last Monday, California came back down to earth. The California Pintos took a 54-40 bruising from the Chillicothe Hornets on Wednesday. The game marked the Pintos' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Chillicothe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lyla Beetsma out in front who went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Beetsma's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lydia Bonderer, who made all 5 shots she took for 14 points and six boards.

The loss snapped California's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-6 record. As for Chillicothe, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

California wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-63 victory against St. James on the 18th. As for Chillicothe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-38 defeat against Tipton on the 18th.
