Volleyball Recap: Alanna Findley Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Pickens County + How To Watch

Pickens Academy's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pickens County Tornadoes, sneaking past 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pickens Academy was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-6, 21-25, 25-17, 15-12.

Pickens Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alanna Findley, who had 14 aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Craker, who had seven aces and five blocks.

They weren't the only good server: Pickens Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 32 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.

Pickens Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Pickens County, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Pickens Academy will take on South Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Stallions will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pickens County, they will square off against Gordo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tornadoes are facing the Green Wave at the right time seeing as the Green Wave are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
