Baseball Recap: Gray-New Gloucester Beats Dirigo for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Gray-New Gloucester extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 4-3 in the process. They never let the Dirigo Cougars get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Liam Joyce's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Kobi Conant and Cole Thibodeau did most of the damage at the plate: Conant got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Thibodeau went 1-for-2 with one home run. Thibodeau also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Jake Mulry was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Dirigo, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. The contest marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Dirigo's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Crosby, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Gray-New Gloucester will square off against Telstar at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Rebels have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Dirigo, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m.
