Basketball Game Preview: Assumption Rockets vs. Central Yellow Jackets

The Assumption Rockets will challenge the Central Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Assumption knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Central likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Assumption was fully in charge, breezing past Male 79-23. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Ashlinn James, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. James is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Bailee Duck was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points.

Assumption was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 57-47 to DuPont Manual.

Assumption's win bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.

Assumption strolled past Central in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 64-47. Will Assumption repeat their success, or does Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
