Soccer Game Preview: Cape Elizabeth vs. Greely

The Cape Elizabeth Capers will head out on the road to challenge the Greely Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Cape Elizabeth put up the most goals they have all season on Friday. They and Traip finished up their contest with a 4-4 draw. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Cape Elizabeth's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Greely came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.9 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Greely might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by three goals or more this season.

Cape Elizabeth's draw gives them a new season record of 2-4-2. As for Greely, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.

Cape Elizabeth couldn't quite get it done against Greely in their previous meeting on Thursday as they fell 3-1. Can the Capers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
