Baseball Game Preview: Strasburg Rams vs. Stonewall Jackson Generals

The Strasburg Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Stonewall Jackson Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Strasburg has ten straight wins, Stonewall Jackson has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Strasburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Moorefield on Saturday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly ten runs.

Landon Bowers looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Strasburg let Aiden Adkins and Conner Miller run wild. Adkins went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Miller went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Miller a new career-high. Ryan Reynolds was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Stonewall Jackson didn't have quite enough to beat Rappahannock County on Thursday and fell 3-2.

Strasburg's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Stonewall Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Strasburg took their win against Stonewall Jackson in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
