Baseball Recap: Riverside-Durham's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Riverside-Durham dropped their record down to 13-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Riverside-Durham saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Dippolito, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Dippolito has hit this season. Another was Kj Burton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

As for Jordan, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Jordan's side, Philip Daly looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Daly has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Riverside-Durham and Jordan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Pirates (ranked 41st) will meet East Chapel Hill (ranked 329th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jordan will square off against Northern Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (77 vs. 238).
