Volleyball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Center Grove Trojans. If the Artesians were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Trojans when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-10, 25-15.

Ruby Murrell paced Martinsville's offense, picking up six kills. Murrell got some help from Evea Ennis and her 12 assists.

Center Grove was led to victory by Skylyr Merriman and Avery Bastein. Merriman had nine digs and four assists, while Bastein had five digs and one assist. Those four assists gave Merriman a new career-high.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Center Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Martinsville has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Beech Grove on the 23rd. As for Center Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against New Castle on the 23rd.
