Softball Recap: Redlands East Valley Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Redlands East Valley took on Corona on Tuesday. The Redlands East Valley Wildcats fell just short of the Corona Panthers by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by just one run.

Redlands East Valley got a good showing from Alaina Naef, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Naef has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Redlands East Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Twente, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Alaena Martinez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Redlands East Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Corona, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Coming up, Redlands East Valley will face off against San Juan Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Corona, they will welcome Rancho Cucamonga at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
