Boone Grove is 1-7 against Hobart since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wolves will take on the Brickies at 4:30 p.m. Boone Grove will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Boone Grove made easy work of Hebron and carried off a 12-3 win. Considering the Wolves have won six matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Andrew Batesole made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Davian Carrera was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Tristan Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Boone Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hobart gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Kankakee Valley by a score of 6-3. The Brickies haven't had any issues with the Kougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Hobart saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Leonard, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Julian Alvarez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Boone Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Hobart, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Boone Grove beat Hobart 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
