Softball Recap: Vel Phillips Memorial Drops Season-High Score on Madison East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vel Phillips Memorial). They were the clear victors by a 23-8 margin over the Madison East Purgolders on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Vel Phillips Memorial got a massive performance out of Sophia Rocha, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Lauren O'Donnell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

Vel Phillips Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Vel Phillips Memorial pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Vel Phillips Memorial will face off against Middleton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison East, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sun Prairie at 5:00 p.m. on May 9.
