Basketball Recap: CHESS Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

CHESS Academy's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Byne Christian Saints by a score of 51-44. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Byne Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gemily Morey went 6 for 14 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was London Olney, who posted ten points.

CHESS Academy's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7. As for Byne Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.

As for Byne Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on CHESS Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. The timing isn't great for CHESS Academy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Byne Christian has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
