Basketball Game Preview: Burke Cougars vs. Freeman Academy/Marion

The Burke Cougars will face off against Freeman Academy/Marion at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Burke is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Colome 64-23 on Tuesday.

Burke found their leader in sophomore Brody Indahl, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points. What's more, Indahl also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Elijah Bartling was another key player, putting up nine points.

Burke was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Freeman Academy/Marion made off with a 56-55 win over Scotland/Menno.

Burke's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-16. As for Freeman Academy/Marion, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.

Burke came up short against Freeman Academy/Marion in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 69-60. Can Burke avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
