Baseball Recap: Northlake Christian Gets the Win

Northlake Christian took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fontainebleau, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Northlake Christian Wolverines narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Fontainebleau Bulldogs 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since February 15th.

Cade Christner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northlake Christian is 5-0-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stew Covey, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Ethan Nicholson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Northlake Christian's win bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Fontainebleau, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
