Softball Recap: Saint James' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Saint James had no problem doing just that on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won five contests in a row.

Emily Needham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Saint James' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mary Olive Maddox, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Saint James' win bumped their record up to 47-7. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they moved to 26-13-1 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Saint James will take on Alabama Christian Academy at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Lee-Scott Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
