Basketball Recap: Tremont Takes a Loss

Tremont fought the good fight in their overtime game against Baldwyn on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Baldwyn Bearcats by a score of 59-57. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Tremont still got an impressive performance from Olivia Gillespie, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Gillespie's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Lilie Lentz was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Tremont's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Baldwyn, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5.

Tremont will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vardaman at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Baldwyn, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-32 loss against Hardin County on the 20th.
