Baseball Recap: Northlake Christian Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Northlake Christian hadn't done well against South Lafourche recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Everything went the Northlake Christian Wolverines' way against the South Lafourche Tarpons as the Northlake Christian Wolverines made off with a 7-1 win. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Eli Shoemake was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Colton West was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Stew Covey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Northlake Christian pushed their record up to 1-0-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Northlake Christian will face off against New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Lafourche, they will challenge Breaux Bridge at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
