Baseball Game Preview: Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets vs. Central Spartans

Palo Verde Valley hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Palo Verde Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Central will be coming in after a loss.

Palo Verde Valley came out on top against Brawley on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Yellow Jackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted since March 21st.

Dominic Rios was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrius Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Palo Verde Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Imperial.

Angel Carrillo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Diego Acuna was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

With the win, Palo Verde Valley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-11-1. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.

Palo Verde Valley beat Central 6-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
