Baseball Game Preview: Cedarburg Bulldogs vs. Nicolet Knights

Cedarburg hasn't had much luck against Nicolet recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Knights at 4:45 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Cedarburg's offense. They came up short against Whitefish Bay on Monday, falling 6-0. The Bulldogs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Nicolet had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They never let the Black Hawks get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly five runs.

Jack Stuck was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Stuck wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Bongard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Cedarburg's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Nicolet, their record is now 7-11.

Cedarburg might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Nicolet in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
