Basketball Recap: Gilbert Yellowjackets vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans
Gilbert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 114-35 loss at the hands of the Shepaug Valley Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Spartans are ranked 29th).
Leading Shepaug Valley to victory were Reed Woerner and James Kersten. Woerner posted 24 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Kersten had 23 points and four steals. Woerner's evening made it 20 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Konik, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine assists.
