Preview: Haughton Buccaneers vs. Byrd Yellow Jackets
The Haughton Buccaneers will head out on the road to square off against the Byrd Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Haughton has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
While Haughton couldn't quite beat Parkway on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 34-point defeat they were dealt on Tuesday. Haughton fell just short of Parkway by a score of 59-57. While losing is never fun, Haughton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Parkway is ranked 94th).
Meanwhile, Byrd's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Captain Shreve, falling 71-27.
Haughton has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for Byrd, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-20.
Haughton came up short against Byrd in their previous matchup back in January, falling 62-55. Can Haughton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
