Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Dylan Schott and Carter Wheeldin Lead Caldwell to Victory

On Thursday, the Caldwell Redskins were able to grind out a solid victory over the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees, taking the game 63-52. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redskins.

Leading Caldwell to victory were Carter Wheeldin and Dylan Schott. Wheeldin dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards, while Schott went 5-for-9 en route to 21 points and three steals. Wheeldin is becoming a predictor of Caldwell's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 17-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Ethan Crock was another key player, putting up six points.

When it comes to explaining why Clay-Battelle lost, don't look at Preston Luzader. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. The match was Luzader's 14th in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Morgan, who posted 11 points.

Caldwell's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points over those games. As for Clay-Battelle, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.
