Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was the 8-6 winner over Handley when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Judges by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Parker Harris was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Liberty is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-13 otherwise. Harris was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Corbin Shepard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Christopher Laws, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Liberty and nudges their season record down to 7-14. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Handley, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-13 record.
