Basketball Recap: Jordyn Vaughn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northeast Lauderdale over Newton County

Northeast Lauderdale lost against Newton County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newton County Cougars.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordyn Vaughn, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and three steals. Those seven rebounds gave Vaughn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jakayla Grace, who scored two points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

Northeast Lauderdale's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Newton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Northeast Lauderdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-30 victory against West Lauderdale on the 14th. Newton County has also already played their next contest (against Leake Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
