Volleyball Recap: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Del Norte Tigers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rye can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Del Norte Tigers on Friday. The Thunderbolts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

While Rye was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Del Norte's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-21.

Isabella Bond paced Rye's offense, picking up 15 kills. Bond got some help from Kelsy Stribling and her 21 assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Del Norte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kailee Gallegos, who had 15 digs and three aces. Gallegos has been hot recently, having also posted 20 or more assists the last four times she's played. Brynley Brown was another key player, getting 17 digs, 11 kills, and a block.

Rye's loss dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Del Norte, their record now sits at 22-3.

Rye does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Del Norte has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Lyons on the 15th.
